Former Wilkes University star Dave Jannuzzi scored eight points in his first
professional start on Sunday for the Atlantic City Seagulls of the United
States Basketball League. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 ``I did decent, it went all right,'' said Jannuzzi, whose team lost to the
Brooklyn Kings, 95-92. ``We lost by three, but it was probably the best game
we played all year.'' &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The three-time Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom League Player of the Year
injured an ankle during the game. The injury isn't serious, but he may miss a
game or two. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 When the 23-year-old first arrived in Atlantic City, he played sparingly at
the shooting guard position. Now, head coach John Pace moved him to point
guard and Jannuzzi seems to be hitting his stride. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 ``On Saturday, he (Pace) gave me my first chance,'' said the two-time
Division III All-American via phone Monday. ``He started me for the second
half (against Long Island). I played about 15 minutes, I played pretty well.'' &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 On Friday, Jannuzzi was placed on the inactive list, which meant he didn't
accompany the team on a recent road trip. The Seagulls (0-13) are the worst in
the 10-team USBL, and playing for a losing club has been tough on Jannuzzi,
who enjoyed great success at Wilkes, including a Final Four berth in 1998. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 ``You don't run too many plays down here, which is different from college
basketball. And plus there's not a whole ton of organization,'' Jannuzzi said
of the league that ends play in late June. ``But it's different. I mean, it's
a first-time experience. And after this weekend, with coach giving me my first
shot, it's starting to look better.'' &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Jannuzzi, who averaged 23.3 points per game for Wilkes this past season and
won the Jostens Trophy as the Division III National Player of the Year, will
showcase his talents at two upcoming tryouts in Las Vegas and Italy in June.
The tryouts allow players to get looked at by professional scouts. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Until then, he hopes to keep guiding the Sea Gull offense. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 ``I think he (Pace) likes the way that I run the offense and I think he'll
continue to give me a shot as long as my ankle heals up quick enough.'' &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
