Crime Victims&#8217; Rights Day in FallsFALLS &#8212; State Rep. Karen Boback has set up a program for Crime Victims&#8217; Rights Day, featuring Acting Secretary of the state Department of Aging Teresa Osborne at 11 a.m. Friday, April 24. Also here to give information are representatives from the federal Protection Bureau out of Washinton, D.C. Wyoming County Commissioners will give a citation for Crime Victims&#8217; Rights Day in Wyoming County.The following activities are available throughout the week to any 50 and older:Mondays: 9:30 to 11 a.m., Wii bowling with Tunkhannock center, alternating sites; 10:30 a.m. to noon, Craft &amp; Crocheting group meets. Any level is welcome. The group is making afghans to provide extra warmth for people in the dialysis unit of a local hospital. Donations fo yarn are currently being accepted. The group is getting ready to make items for the craft fair, which is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19.Tuesdays: Brain games at lunch.Wednesdays: 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Walking group meets, weather permitting.Thursdays: Nutrition talks at lunch. Bingo will be held following lunch.Fridays: 9:30 a.m. to noon Geocaching activity, weather permitting. Free Zumba Gold from 9:15 to 10 a.m.Anyone wishing to join the Falls Active Center for a hot meal each day at noon, for a suggested donation of $2 for those 60 and over, and $4.62 for those under 60, should RSVP to Twila at 570-388-2623 by 12:30 p.m. the day before.&#8216;Savvy Saving Senior&#8217; workshop April 28PITTSTON &#8212; Reservations are now being taken for &#8220;Savvy Saving Senior&#8221; financial education workshop at the Pittston Active Adult Center. This free class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, April 28. Topics include budgeting, financial goals, saving and financial assistance. This is an educational event only &#8211; no financial products will be sold.Tickets are now on sale for the Annual Dinner Dance at Gennetti&#8217;s on Thursday, May 7. Cost per person is $21 over 60 and $23 under 60. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the dance ends at 4 p.m. King Henry and the Showman will provide the music. Dinner will be served at 12:15 p.m. with the choice of prime rib au jus, chicken cordon bleu or sole with stuffed srab smperial. Deadline for reservations is Thursday, April 30. Hosts/hostesses are: Theresa Bekanich, MaryAnn Markowski, Fran Poluske and Cheryl Pipher.At the previous meeting vice president John Kovaleski led the group in prayer and song. Terri Mislan read the minutes of the previous meeting, and Amy Alpaugh read the treasurer&#8217;s report. After a brief meeting refreshments were enjoyed and Bingo was played. 50/50 winners were Tony Matreselva, Johanna Malinowski, Ann Marie Shedlock and a guest. Theresa Blasavage won the special game and Fran Lepo won the jackpot prize. Helen Zarychta won the basket raffle.A casino trip to Sands is scheduled for Thursday, May 7. Pickups are in Exeter and Pittston. Club membership is not required to join these trips. Call Johanna at 570-655-2720 for reservations and information.The club will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a Mass at St. Anthony&#8217;s Church on Tuesday, May 12, followed by a catered party at the parish center.Membership in the club is open to all men and women aged 50 and up. Interested parties are invited to attend a meeting. There is no restriction as to residency or religious affiliation.5-day trip planned for St. Joseph&#8217;s seniorsPITTSTON &#8212; In June, the St. Joseph&#8217;s Senior Social Club will hold a five-day trip to Wildwood, New Jersey.On Wednesday, July 18, there will be a trip to the Renault Winery. There will be a tour of the winery, wine tasting, dinner, and then a short drive to Resorts Casino in Atlantic City with a free slot play.The annual picnic at the Checkerboard Inn is scheduled for Thursday, July 16.
