WILKES-BARRE - Andy Davidson said he trusted two nightclub security guards
when they helped him get a ride to a hotel after a night of drinking. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 But that trust was gone after they allegedly took about $600 from the
college student outside the hotel in an incident that led to the investigation
of a police officer. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; ``I thought bouncers were there to protect,'' Davidson of West Chester said
Tuesday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The two Woodlands Inn &amp; Resort bouncers, Joe Kloss, 29, of Hughestown, and
Leo Yerashunas, 23, of Edwardsville, each waived their right to a preliminary
hearing on single counts of theft Tuesday before District Justice Martin Kane
of Wilkes-Barre. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Police said Davidson came to the area in June with about $780 for a
birthday party. He and some friends went to the Woodlands, but Davidson was
denied entry because he appeared too intoxicated. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was later given a ride to a nearby Holiday Inn motel where he was
staying by two bouncers. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Outside the motel, Davidson was taking money out of a bank envelope when
one of the bouncers grabbed the envelope, he said. They returned it with $60
in it, Davidson said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Davidson said he asked for the money back, but the bouncers told him: ``Get
out of the car.'' &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 ``I got out,'' he said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The bouncers said Davidson dropped the wallet and they later found $160 in
the vehicle. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Police said one of the bouncers later put $40 of the money on the front
seat of Plains Township police officer Brian Baranski's cruiser as his part of
the ``tip.'' Baranski has said he intended to return the money to the
bouncers. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The incident led to an internal investigation of Baranski, Police Chief Ed
Walsh has said. Walsh did not return a message Tuesday seeking an update of
the investigation. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Kloss' attorney, Mark M. Mack, said the case will run its course at the
county level. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
