Walter Peters &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Jan. 12, 2002 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; alter E. Peters, 76, of East Church Street, Nanticoke, died Saturday at
Dorrance Manor, Kingston. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Born in Plymouth Township, he was a son of the late Wasil and Paranka
(Sockney) Peters. He was a 1943 graduate of Harter High School, West
Nanticoke. He worked for many years as a mechanic for American Chain and
Cable, Wilkes-Barre. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in
the South Pacific. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Philippines
Liberation Ribbon, the Bronze Star Victory Medal and the American Theater
Service Medal. He was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Church, Nanticoke. He
was also a member of American Legion Post 350, Nanticoke, and the D.A.V.,
Chapter 102. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael; and sister, Anna Petrash. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are his sons, Allen W., Berwick; and Walter G., Edwardsville;
five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren~; sisters, Ollie Rowlands,
Warwick, N.Y.; Mary Manson, Nanticoke; Stephania O'Leary, Nanticoke; and Julia
Maslowski, Nanticoke; and nieces and nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Military funeral services, conducted by American Legion Post 350, will be
9:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51-53 W. Green St.,
Nanticoke, with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Church.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Nanticoke. Friends may call from 4
to 8 p.m. today. The Rev. Michael Mokris will conduct Parastas services 6 p.m.
today at the funeral home. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
