 December 22, 2002 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; ohn Simelebsti, 86, of West Main Street, Nanticoke, died Sunday at Mercy
Health Care Center, Sheatown. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Born in Stearns, Newport Township, he was the son the late Ilko and Helen
(Lys) Cymbalisty. He attended Newport Township schools. He was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II, serving as a medical surgical technician and was a
Sergeant of the 8th Division, serving under General Patton. He received the
Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal with a bronze star while serving in
Ireland and Normandy. He was employed as a manager by the Horn &amp; Hardart
Restaurant, New York, for several years. He was a member of St. Nicholas
Ukrainian Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 350, Nanticoke. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther; and sister, Ann. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are sister, Irene Cymbalisty, with whom he resided; several
great-nieces and nephews; and a great-great-niece and nephew. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A military funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the
Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51-53 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with the
American Legion Post 350 conducting the service. A Divine Liturgy will be at
10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. A Parastas service will be
at 3 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Sheatown. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Nicholas
Cemetery Endowment Fund. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
