WILKES-BARRE — A television wall bracket, a humidifier, a fan and a power drill were used as weapons during a domestic disturbance that resulted in the arrests of two people early Thursday morning, police said.

City police responded to Murray Street just after 3 a.m. when Kyran Davis, 38, claimed India Lee Griffen, 28, struck him in the head with a power drill.

Police said the device had a drill bit inserted into its chuck that punctured the back of Davis’ head.

When police verified Davis’ identity, they learned he was wanted by the state Office of Attorney General on drug trafficking charges. Griffen was arrested on domestic violence offenses.

According to the criminal complaint:

Davis told police Griffen called him to babysit her two children because she wanted to go drinking. Davis claimed he had no choice but to go to Griffen’s residence or she would have left the children home alone.

Davis is the father of one of the children.

Davis told police Griffen returned home heavily intoxicated and began to consume more alcohol and loudly played music.

Police in the complaint said Davis claimed he told Griffen to settle down so the children could sleep.

During an argument, Davis said Griffen struck him with a fan, struck him in the back with a television wall bracket, and hit him with a humidifier before picking up a power drill and punching him with it, the complaint says.

Emergency medical technicians evaluated a puncture wound to the back of Davis’ head caused by a drill bit inserted in the power drill.

Officers were not able to enter Griffen’s residence to observe the objects Davis claimed were used due to a Pit bull Griffen refused to secure, the complaint says.

When officers verified Davis’ name, they learned there was an arrest warrant obtained by the Attorney General’s Office on Dec. 15 charging him with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges by the Attorney General’s Office allege Davis sold fentanyl in the Wilkes-Barre area in June.

Davis, of Sambourne Street, Wilkes-Barre, was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Griffen was charged with simple assault and harassment and jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.

In an unrelated case, Griffen was sentenced Aug. 8 to four years probation after she pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of children.

In that case, city police said her 2-year-old daughter was found wandering unsupervised on West River Street on March 17, 2019. Griffen was found by officers with a strong odor of alcohol sleeping in her then apartment on West River Street, court records say.
