Abington area students named to Upper School Dean’s List at Wyoming Seminary

TRUCKSVILLE &#8212; The board of directors of the Cedar Crest Cemetery Association will begin its sixth annual giving campaign on May 1.This program was begun in 2010 with the purpose of obtaining funds for the mowing of the cemetery from May through September. With a list composed of 45 plot owners, descendants of persons interred in Cedar Crest Cemetery and friends from the community, the first mailing was sent. Twenty five persons from the 2010 list have continued to respond each year through 2014. The list of potential donors has grown. In 2014, there were 79 donors with 39 percent of those contributions coming from 13 states other than Pennsylvania.The budget for the Cedar Crest Cemetery for 2015 is $9,700. The hope is to raise $8,000 through the Annual Giving Campaign to be used to cover maintenance costs from May through September.Unfortunately, many families have left the community. It has been difficult to find early plot owners dating back to 1882 when the cemetery was organized. Among those interred are veterans who have served our country beginning with the Civil War. It has been suggested that persons might wish to consider being a community donor to honor veterans this Memorial Day.
