KINGSTON - Dallas guard Matt Kelly scored some of the most important points of
Friday night's game at Bishop O'Reilly. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 But his mother had the best comment. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; As the Mountaineers dribbled away the final seconds of an impressive 54-37
win against the defending Class A state champions, Ladonn Kelly turned to the
people sitting in the bleachers behind her and said, "This is just like
beating Berwick in football." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Sophomore Ryan Nemetz scored a game-high 17 points and senior Matt Wilson
added 13 as Dallas improved its Wyoming Valley Conference Division II
second-half record to 4-1 with one game remaining. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 O'Reilly suffered its first loss of the regular season and drops to 4-1 in
the second half. Dallas and O'Reilly are one-half game behind division-leading
Bishop Hoban (4-0) and both teams play the Argents next week. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Mountaineers (16-7 overall) led by 14 points when 6-foot-8 junior
center Robbie Myers went to the bench with his fourth foul with 4:58
remaining in the third quarter. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 With Myers on the bench, the Queensmen went inside to 6-5 center Josh
Aciukewicz. The junior responded with five consecutive points to pull O'Reilly
(19-3 overall) to within nine. Aciukewicz finished with a team-high 14 points. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 But Kelly responded with a three-pointer 11 seconds later, sparking a 13-3
run for the Mountaineers to close the third quarter. Kelly scored all six of
his points during the run as Dallas grabbed a 19-point lead, 46-27. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 After the game, the senior agreed with his mother's comments. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "O'Reilly is the equivalent in basketball to what Berwick is in football,"
said Kelly. "This is a huge win for us. This could change the momentum for us
for the rest of the season." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Dallas jumped out of the gate early, with Wilson and Nemetz each scoring
eight points as the Mountaineers took an 18-8 lead after one quarter. Late in
the second quarter Brad Fagula, who pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds,
nailed a three-pointer and Myers added an inside basket to give Dallas a
commanding 31-15 halftime lead. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 While the offense was scoring points, the Mountaineer defense was
suffocating O'Reilly. The Queensmen's combination of Aciukewicz and Tim
Crossin - two of the best Class A players in the state - was held to two field
goals in the first half. O'Reilly finished the game with just 11 field goals. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "It's not that we didn't shoot well, we didn't play well. Period," said
O'Reilly coach Mark Belenski. "(Dallas is) playing well right now and we're
not. We're in a funk. That's not taking anything away from Dallas." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A loss by Dallas would have ended its hopes for a WVC Division II
championship. But despite the game's importance, coach Ted Jackson Jr. tried
to downplay its significance to his players before the game. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "We tried to take it as another game, not the game," said Jackson, who
received quality minutes off the bench from junior center Eric Domalski. "But
I think our kids knew all along how important this game was. Our guys were
ready. As soon as we got on the bus I knew they were ready to go." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
