Lois Kaschenbach had a dream when she was in the eighth grade. She wanted
to play field hockey in college. When she started receiving recruiting phone
calls, she knew her dream was going to come true. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Kaschenbach, a Lake-Lehman High School senior, recently verbally committed
to the University of Rhode Island. She is the second field hockey player from
Lake-Lehman - and the ninth from the Wyoming Valley Conference - to commit to
a Division I school this year. Lehman's Traci Ragukas committed to Michigan
State at the end of her junior year. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Kaschenbach isn't the only Black Knight who will be on the University of
Rhode Island's field hockey squad next year. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Chrisse Kazmierski (Class of 2005) and Lauren Lipski (Class of '04) attend
Rhode Island. Kaschenbach stayed with Kazmierski on her official visit in
October. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "The (Rhode Island) coach contacted me, and at one of our practices, she
told my coach (Jean Lipski) that she wanted me out for an official visit,"
Kaschenbach said. "It was fun." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Kaschenbach was offered a partial athletic scholarship when she verbally
committed. She will receive at least a half-tuition scholarship. She could get
more in February when she signs, depending on how many girls sign, she was
told. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Kaschenbach also was looking at the University of Vermont and Monmouth
University in N.J., but, "the recruiting was laid back, and I didn't want to
be with that." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Though she plans to major in education, Kaschenbach said she was looking at
large universities because "I wanted to go to more of a university so it would
have all the majors, just in case." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Kaschenbach, a midfielder, finished the season with one goal and five
assists. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "It's relieving," she said about making her decision. "Now I don't have to
worry. I play indoor field hockey and everyone would ask where I was going,
and I'd say, `I don't know.' And everyone else knew. Now, it's nice to say
where I'm going. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "It's exciting. I'm a little nervous, but I think I can handle it." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
