Kenneth J. Brislin 
Jr., son of Carol A.(Podsadlik) Brislin, Wapwallopen, and the late Kenneth J. Brislin Sr., was promoted to chief gunner&rsquo;s mate in the U.S. Coast Guard. Chief Brislin resides in Buxton, Maine, with his wife of 16 years, the former Lisa Karki, and their two sons, Nathaniel, 7, and Zachary, 3. Chief Brislin has a sister, Brenda M. Brislin, who resides in Wilkes-Barre. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jerome and Amelia (Tugday) Brislin, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander and Phyllis (Vollinger) Podsadlik. Chief Brislin is a 1986 graduate of John S. Fine Senior High School, Nanticoke. Upon graduation he attended the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, N.J. Chief Brislin successfully completed police officer training at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, in Portland, Maine. Chief Brislin is employed as a police officer with the Buxton Maine Police Department. He also serves with the Sector Northern New England Coast Guard Reserves. He has served a combined 20 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. Chief Brislin was active in the Coast Guard during Operation Desert Storm, Post 9/11, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. An Initiation Banquet was held in May at the Thomas Room in Portland, Maine, to honor all of the newly installed Coast Guard Chiefs. Lisa Brislin, hosted an open house at the chief&rsquo;s residence for family and friends also in May. Carol, his mother, and Brenda Brislin, his sister; Mr. and Mrs. John Bath, and Lisa Bath, family friends, traveled to Maine for the festivities. A surprise pig roast and firework display were held in July at Carol Brislin&rsquo;s home in Wapwallopen, hosted by Carol, Brenda, and Lisa Brislin.
