WHETHER RELIGIOUS or not, one cannot help but be moved by the simple Bible admonition: &ldquo;It is more blessed to give than to receive.&rdquo;
If that is so, and we believe it is, then blessed indeed are the hundreds of contributors to this year&rsquo;s Times Leader/Luzerne Foundation Book of Dreams, our annual holiday campaign for the area&rsquo;s less-fortunate residents.
Thanks to our donors&rsquo; generosity, every dream we publicized was turned into a reality and every wished-for gift turned from a paper hope into the real thing.
In today&rsquo;s front-page article, you&rsquo;ll learn about the motorized chair Connie received to help her aching legs and the new living-room suite for Adrianne and her children. 
You&rsquo;ll also learn about Jackie, a 36-year-old man with cerebral palsy and a limited vocabulary, who will now be able to communicate better by tapping out messages on a new $3,000 communication device.
What a splendid present, one that will open up the world for Jackie in ways he&rsquo;s never been able to experience before.
For the total of nine families we helped, our contributors are special angels who opened their wallets, pocketbooks and perhaps piggy banks and donated more than $20,000 since the project got under way on Thanksgiving Day.
 The total, which is not yet finalized, easily surpassed the campaign&rsquo;s goal of $17,200. 
The excess funds will allow for even more dreams to be fulfilled as they will be distributed to area nonprofit groups that aid disadvantaged people.
All the gifts and all the contributions are special, as were the people who made those donations.
Do we believe in Santa Claus?
