Significant progress has been made at the Laurel Run Creek Wall Rehabilitation Project in Parsons. Repairs to the creek wall were needed following extensive flooding in November of 2006. Upon the project&rsquo;s completion later this year, the City of Wilkes-Barre will have invested more than $2.5 million in repairs at the Laurel Run Creek basin. In April 2007, Mayor Thomas Leighton announced nearly $2 million was allocated for the first two phases of the Laurel Run Creek wall project. The project targeted the worst areas of the wall first, located along Oliver Street, and will move along the creek until all damaged areas are fixed. Crews from Slusser Brothers and Pennsy Supply are scheduled to complete this work by the end of the year. Kriger Brothers Construction began work on the third and final phase of this project in July. In addition to the $2.5 million of rehabilitation work, the city has also spent $550,000 on bank stabilization of the upper Laurel Run Creek and $200,000 on storm debris removal.
