Red Hat’s ‘wow’ To Gather For Meeting, Party

At least one family was left homeless when a fire destroyed the second and third floors of this double-block home at 9-11 Oak St., West Hazleton, Monday night. Crews from the West Hazleton, Hazle Township and Freeland fire departments responded sometime after 7 p.m. Neighbors said the family that was living at 11 Oak St. escaped unharmed. The other half of the home was believed to be unoccupied. PPL shut the power off in the neighborhood for safety reasons soon after crews responded to the scene.
