LCCC, King’s and Misericordia plan in-person commencements

WILKES-BARRE &mdash; A contractor has carved out a lot on the corner of McCarragher and Grove streets for the new Rolling Mill Hill park.
				Workers from Columbia Excavating LLC of Bloomsburg Tuesday were grading a crushed stone base spread around playground equipment.
				The framework for swings, climbing equipment and stairs to a sliding board were in place. The completed park will be topped with mulch and enclosed by a fence.
				The project estimated to cost $84,000 is expected to be completed by the end of April, said Joyce Morrash Zaykowski, director of Wilkes-Barre&rsquo;s Office of Economic & Community Development.
				The park was to be built by the owner of the nearby Heritage Point Apartments on Dana Street as part of a 2015 agreement settling appeals filed by neighbors against the Wilkes-Barre Zoning Hearing Board. HDC MidAtlantic also was to transfer the property to the city.
				Last year <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/808766/wilkes-barres-newest-public-park-coming-to-rolling-mill-hill" target="_blank" rel="noopener">HDC MidAtlantic presented the city with a $10,000 check</a> to purchase playground equipment. Zaykowski said the city contributed an additional $13,000. Engineering cost $9,679 and the contractor submitted the lowest responsible bid of $51,390.
				Most of the project was funded by the city&rsquo;s Community Development Block Grant program.
