KINGSTON TWP. &mdash; A man from New Jersey will spend time in jail &mdash; at least until April 15.
				Township police and Luzerne County detectives on Thursday refiled charges against Ronald Vargas, 33, of Jersey City, alleging he had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl in 2020.
				Vargas was initially charged Nov. 2. Two days later, Nov. 4, he was released when he posted $25,000 bail.
				After a delay, Vargas&rsquo; preliminary hearing was scheduled March 25 but he failed to show.
				Police withdrew the case only to refile additional more serious charges against Vargas, who was arraigned by Wilkes-Barre Township District Judge Michael G. Dotzel.
				Dotzel jailed Vargas at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility without bail noting Vargas failed to appear at his March 25 preliminary hearing.
				Vargas&rsquo; preliminary hearing on the latest charges is scheduled for April 15, when his no bail condition may be modified.
				According to the criminal complaint:
				Police began their investigation when they received a report of a missing juvenile May 10. The investigation revealed the girl was in a relationship with &ldquo;David Rodriguez Miranda&rdquo; for two months.
				David Miranda is identified in the complaint as Vargas.
				A friend to the girl told police she believed &ldquo;David&rdquo; was a college student from New Jersey.
				Police in the complaint said Vargas and the girl communicated through an online game. Screen shots of online game communications were retrieved, alleging Vargas suggested to the girl they find another way to communicate in case they were &ldquo;hacked&rdquo; and urged the girl she &ldquo;better not write stuff down,&rdquo; the complaint says.
				Vargas allegedly told the girl to create another Snapchat or email account to conceal their communications.
				When police received the report of the missing girl May 10, the girl was found at a service station in Blakeslee.
				During an interview with a forensic examiner at the Luzerne County Children&rsquo;s Advocacy Center, the girl said Vargas abandoned her at the service station when he found out police were investigating their relationship, the complaint says.
				The girl told the forensic examiner she met Vargas who identified himself as &ldquo;David Rodriguez Miranda&rdquo; online and he claimed to be 17-years-old. After they started dating, Vargas later claimed he was 21 and later 28 years of age.
				She said they would often stay at hotels in the Wilkes-Barre area and once she stayed a weekend at his apartment in Jersey City.
				When they went to hotels, she allegedly told the forensic examiner they had sex, ate, watched movies and fell asleep.
				She noted during the interview Vargas would masturbate during video chats and he encouraged her to send him lewd photos and videos, the complaint says.
				Vargas was confronted by a family friend when he was walking with the girl on the Back Mountain Trail June 22. Vargas fled in woods but police learned Vargas&rsquo; identity when they traced his vehicle left behind in a parking lot near the trail.
				Vargas was charged Thursday with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, indecent assault, child pornography, dissemination of sexual material involving a minor, and criminal use of communication facility.
