St. Cyril’s Church plans rummage sale

Pittston Area walked off against Crestwood in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring two runs to come back and win 5-4 Tuesday in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 baseball game.

Anthony Cencetti led the Patriots, going 2-for-3, and Matt Johnson went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Adam Litchkofski led the Comets on the mound and with the bat, tossing 5.1 innings, allowing three unearned runs and striking out seven. At the plate, he went 3-for-4.

Wyoming Valley West 3, Berwick 1

Mason Matello shined for the Spartans, tossing a complete game, allowing just three hits and one run. Garrett Vought went 2-for-4 to lead the offense.

The lone blemish on Matello’s line came from Berwick’s Teagan Shortlidge, who blasted a home run in the fourth inning.

Hazleton Area 6, Tunkhannock 3

Ryan Verbonitz led Hazleton Area by going 2-for-3 with two RBI and Grant Russo went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Aiden Paddock went 1-for-3 for the Tigers with a double and two RBI.

Dallas 7, Wilkes-Barre Area 1

Chris Killian tripled, doubled and drove in three runs as Dallas defeated Wilkes-Barre Area.

Ryan Collins also had three RBI for Dallas. Gary Weaver threw five innings, allowing two hits and striking out six, to pick up the win.

Pedro Betancourt had two of WBA’s four hits and the Wolfpack’s only RBI.

Holy Redeemer 6, Nanticoke Area 1

The Royals opened a five-run lead after one inning on the way to defeating Nanticoke Area.

Luke Kopec knocked in two runs in the first inning for Redeemer. Colin Wills and Brett Krugel finished with two hits each.

Nate Dudeck pitched six innings to pick up the win.

Luke Myers and Justin Spencer each had an RBI for Nanticoke Area.

BOYS TENNIS

MMI Prep 3, Berwick 2

The Preppers defeated Berwick behind two singles wins and one doubles win. Christian Bodamo and Ryan McNelis won the singles matches for MMI Prep and the pair of Tom Mayernick/Noah Long won the doubles match.

Brendan Turowski won Berwick’s only singles match and the duo of Caden Reader/Zander Switzer won the doubles match.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Wyoming Seminary 12, Delaware Valley 6

Ashley Metz had three goals and two assists and Chase Taylor scored four goals to lead Wyoming Seminary past Delaware Valley. Lily Kutz also scored three goals and had two assists for the Blue Knights.

Lake-Lehman 13, Abington Heights 9

Rachel Shook and Lilian Raczkowski each scored three goals for Lehman. Shook added five assists.

Maddy Raspen and Ava Radel scored twice while Rachel Galasso, Lyndsey Sayre and Madison Lasinski all scored once. Kortney Harry made 10 saves.

Alison Dammer scored six goals for Abington Heights.

Scranton Prep 17, Wilkes-Barre Area 4

Christina DeNaples scored seven goals to pace Scranton Prep.

Elizabeth Livingston scored two goals and Lindsey Syms and Kelsie Marx added one apiece for WBA.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Holy Redeemer 3, Lake-Lehman 0

The Royals swept Lake-Lehman 25-7, 25-9, 25-9.

Will Wasiakowski led Holy Redeemer with eight aces, 15 assists and 13 service points. Matt Albrecht added six kills, nine points and one assist.

Berwick 3, Hanover Area 0

Berwick defeated Hanover Area in three sets 25-2, 25-3, 25-10.

Andrew Blockus had 16 aces, 23 service points, 17 assists and four digs to lead the Bulldogs. David Hernandez had six aces, 10 service points and one kill.

BOYS TRACK

Wyoming Area 111.5, Northwest 34.5

Rocco Pizano and Nico Sciandra led the Warriors past Northwest. Pizano placed first in the 100 dash and the triple jump. Pizano and Sciandra also helped Wyoming Area place first in the 400 relay. Sciandra placed first in the 300 hurdles and helped the Warriors place first in the 1,600 relay.

GIRLS TRACK

Wyoming Area 92, Northwest 57

Wyoming Area defeated Northwest behind Bianca Pizano and Aubriana Marranca. Pizano helped the Warriors place first in the 400 relay and then placed first in the triple jump and long jump. Marranca placed first in the 1,600 run and 3,200 run.

Sarah Zultevicz led the Rangers with first place finishes in the 110 high hurdles and pole vault.
