College sports already adapting to new NCAA transfer rules

Lawmakers fighting like cats and dogs? Not over this bill

Josh Peters, Gary Weaver and Aidan Conrad had RBI doubles and Jared Adamski added an RBI single, all in the fifth inning Thursday as Dallas rallied to defeat Pittston Area 7-5 in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 baseball game.

Conrad picked up the win in relief by throwing the final three innings. Starter Chris Killian struck out 10 over four innings.

Devon Markert was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI for Pittston Area. Anthony Cencetti also drove in a pair of runs, while Jeremy Cawley was 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

Hazleton Area 11, Wyo. Valley West 1 (5 inn.)

Hazleton Area continued to roll along as the Cougars used a five-run third inning to take control and defeat Wyoming Valley West.

Alex Schell led the offense with three RBI. Chris Genao and Kyle Peters added two RBI each. Pitchers Brett Antolick and Marcus LaBuda combined for 11 strikeouts.

Hunter Sgarlet knocked in the Spartans only run.

Tunkhannock 6, Berwick 3

Cody Gavek drove in two runs and Tommy Sheridan pitched six innings with nine strikeouts as Tunkhannock topped Berwick.

Teagan Shortlidge had a bases-loaded double in the fifth inning to score all three Berwick runs.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Dallas 3, Lake-Lehman 0

Dallas swept Lake-Lehman 25-19, 25-15, 25-13.

David Cooper led Dallas with 15 kills, one block, six aces, four assists and 11 service points. Angelo Zarola added 17 assists and 21 service points in the win.

Jackson Kuhar had three kills for Lake-Lehman, Joe Shiskowski had four service points and Stephen Kapsick had five digs.

Holy Redeemer 3, Berwick 0

Holy Redeemer defeated Berwick 25-21, 25-18, 25-18.

The Royals were led by Matt Spiccioli, who had 14 kills. Matt Albrecht added 10 kills, three blocks, four digs and five service points.

Andrew Blockus led the Bulldogs with 17 assists and 11 digs.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Crestwood 15, Hazleton Area 9

Isabella Caporuscio scored six goals for Crestwood in a win over Hazleton Area. Avery Bogdon made eight saves for the Comets, including her 100th career save in the second half.

The Cougars were led by Riley Hudock, who scored five goals.

Lake-Lehman 20, North Pocono 6

Lilian Raczkowski piled up nine points (4 goals, 5 assists) to lead Lake-Lehman past North Pocono. Rachel Shook added eight points (7 goals, 1 assist).

Carena Cole scored four goals for North Pocono.

Wyoming Area 13, Scranton Prep 8

Mackenzie Switzer scored six goals and had an assist to lead the Warriors to a win against Scranton Prep. Emma Kelleher added four goals.

Annie Johnson and Christina DeNaples each scored three goals to lead Scranton Prep.

Colby Roberts and Gavin Paraschak each scored twice in the loss for Lake-Lehman.
