The Red Hot Chicks of Pittston, a local chapter of The Red Hat Ladies, collected donations and held a raffle to be able to buy gifts and badly needed supplies for a local soldier serving in Iraq.
Cpl. David Hoover is stationed in Iraq with the 109th National Guard. He is scheduled to return home in September.
Mary Marotto is Queen of the chapter; Hattie Callahan, Vice Queen; Beryle Stover, Secretary-Treasurer; Mary Jean Coolbaugh, Communicator.
The winners in the raffle held in April were: First, a variety basket, Carol Heiser; second an Afghan, Frank Colletta; third, a handmade ceramic jar, Helen Shannon; fourth, a spring wreath, Mary Jean Coolbaugh; fifth, $25, Carmella Dessoye; sixth, a handmade candleholder, Arline Fina.
