HANOVER TWP. — A man from Ashley died as a result of a vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of Interstate-81 Thursday, state police at Wilkes-Barre reported.

State police stated Zachary Alexander Kollar, 26, operating a 2006 Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck, was traveling in the left lane on I-81 negotiating a downhill curve and for unknown reasons lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle traveled across three lanes of traffic to the right northbound shoulder and struck a concrete barrier, state police said.

State police said the vehicle rolled onto its driver’s side coming to rest in the middle of the right lanes of travel.

Kollar was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the vehicle, Mitchell James Zampetti, 28, of Wilkes-Barre, was injured in the crash. State police did not release information if Zampetti was transported to a hospital.
