Corporate America must alter its greedy course
We are heading for economic disaster and no one wants to address the real problem.
Protests are breaking out in major cities all over the country, particularly in New York City. It should be asked: Are the Wall Street protesters all communists, anarchists or socialists? I say, no.
 They are people who have little chance for employment in an economic system that has become solely about profit. The capitalist system is the greatest system in the world, but only when it is fair capitalism. The system depends on consumers for corporate profits, but the very people who feed the wallets of the CEOs and corporate mavens are the ones who have been spit out, cast off and replaced by Chinese workers. We will never have a sound economy if we employ only the Chinese.
There was a time when corporate America used its resources to create American jobs, so a middle-class person could earn a decent living. Manufacturing facilities were built, health care was provided, lunch rooms sold discounted food and some facilities even had recreational areas. The middle-class person could earn a livable wage 30 years ago. Now all that has changed.
All corporate America now wants is our money for their Chinese products. Greed is the very reason why this country is heading for economic catastrophe. If you want to sell to the American people, that&rsquo;s great. But shouldn&rsquo;t you be obligated to manufacture at least 50 percent of your products in America?
 If we don&rsquo;t change course we are doomed! NAFTA was the worst decision.

Student calls for photos of damaged Sterling
I have been keeping up with the news on the Hotel Sterling in Wilkes-Barre for about six months.
 I am a student at Crestwood High School. Last year, I did my junior-year research paper on &ldquo;The Preservation of Historic Sites&rdquo; and I felt as though the Sterling would be a perfect place for my senior project.
I tried to contact CityVest months ago to get permission to photograph a portion of the inside of the building. I find it insulting that its members did not send back an email. 
I feel as though officials have been trying everything to get rid of this beautiful and historical site in our community, and now the flooding is merely an excuse. I urge officials to give the community proof of the damage through pictures.
 The hotel has been a part of the city skyline for 113 years; give us a reason why you are taking it away. Explain why the money to preserve it seemingly was thrown away.
