Letter Carriers Food Drive being held May 9

EXETER &#8212; The Wyoming Area School District will hold its sixth annual scholarship celebration at 5:30 on Thursday, May 21 in the high school cafeteria.Since 2009 when the idea of scholarships was first introduced, the district has added 38 new local scholarships to its already long list of local scholarships offered to graduating seniors. Donors include local civic groups, individuals, families, businesses, etc.Eleven new scholarships will be awarded this year. They include the Samuel Agolino, Jr. Memorial, the Big Top Rentals, the John Jude Bolin Memorial, the Christie Bonnice State Farm Insurance, the Geisinger Blood Center, The Pace Transportation &#8220;Warrior Pride,&#8221; The Reilly &amp; Associates Realty Inc., the Anthony Scalzo Family, the Eric Speicher, Jr. Memorial, the Warrior Pride, WA Class of 1989 and the Wyoming Area SADD.Four groups have already contacted committee members to develop a scholarship for next year.Several of the donors have increased the amount awarded and others have selected more than one recipient.Each scholarship has its own selection committee. Recipients continue to be named.Invitations have been issued to donors and will be issued to the recipients shortly. All those who have received invitations are asked to reply as soon as possible.Anyone wishing to receive information on how to join the celebration or how to develop a scholarship is asked call the guidance office at 570-655-2836 X 2339 to be contacted by a committee member.
