Fed to continue to taper

First Posted: 1/10/2014 Penn State wrestler Ed Ruth has been accepted into a program that could spare him a criminal record in a driving under the influence case.
Ruth was placed into the county&#8217;s Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program this week, according to courthouse officials.
The program allows first-time offenders to have their criminal records expunged after completing a year of probation.
Ruth was charged with DUI stemming from a late-night incident in November in downtown State College.
State College police alleged that Ruth, 23, had a blood-alcohol content of 0.281 percent &#8212; more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent &#8212; when he crashed his car trying to park on East College Avenue.
Ruth was trying to park in front of Taco Bell around 2 a.m. Nov. 13 when his vehicle struck a tree and ended up on the curb, police said.
The two-time NCAA champion was swaying and staggering as he walked, and slurred and mumbled his speech when officers arrived, investigators said.
Ruth was suspended from the team on Nov. 13 for a month.
He returned to the team with a win Dec. 15 against Ohio State.
