BOSTON &#8212; Avoca&#8217;s Michael McAndrew finished in the top 50 in his age group during Monday&#8217;s Boston Marathon.McAndrew, 55, was 49th among the 1,500 men ages 55-59, who completed the 119th annual race. He ran the 26.2-mile course in 3:05:58, placing McAndrew 3,785th overall out of 26,610 who finished the race.A field of 27,165 started.While McAndrew was in the top four percent in his age group, West Pittston&#8217;s Deedra G. Porfirio was also in the top four percent among all women in the race.Porfirio, 38, finished in 3:10:50. That put her 446th out of 12,022 women and 4,824th overall.A total of 923 Pennsylvania runners completed the race, ranking the state fifth behind Massachusetts, California, New York and Texas.
