Letter to the Editor: Don’t put speed cameras in work safety zones

Reading the newspaper lately there have been quite a few articles about blighted properties. One article states that Luzerne County government approved a ban on &#8220;junk vehicles.&#8221; This applies to 23 of the 76 municipalities.My questions is this: Why are only 23 of the 76 municipalities involved?I think if you&#8217;re in Luzerne County, it should apply. This has been a problem for me for quite a few years now; I live in Plymouth and have a neighbor who has stored junk vehicles and lots of other debris. I have made countless attempts throughout the last 15 years to have this situation resolved. I have asked for help from Plymouth borough, my elected officials and the zoning officer. Nothing is ever done.My family and I have lived in Plymouth all our lives. I&#8217;ve tried to sell my house; however, any prospective buyers who looked out the window seemed to change their minds as soon as they saw all the junk next door.It&#8217;s an eyesore. This situation has depreciated the value of my home and has caused my family and me a lot of unnecessary stress.In closing, I think it would be a great idea for all the municipalities in Luzerne County to be required to adopt such an ordinance. I know Plymouth could really benefit from it.Any suggestions as to what else I can do to resolve this ongoing problem?Patrick StonePlymouth
