<p>After weeks of speculation, Konami&#8217;s Silent Hill video-game reboot &#8212; &#8220;Silent Hills&#8221; &#8212; has been canceled.</p><p>The long-running Silent Hill franchise has roots in nearby Columbia County, as the fictional town was inspired by the nearly deserted coal-mining town Centralia.&#8203;</p><p>The highly anticipated game was to feature Walking Dead star Norman Reedus as the lead character, lending his voice and appearance to the game. Reedus took to Twitter on Sunday saying &#8220;Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it. Hopefully it&#8217;ll come back around. Sorry everyone,&#8221; attaching a pizza emoticon and a link to an article on <a href="http://undeadwalking.com/2015/04/26/silent-hills-featuring-norman-reedus-cancelled/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">undead walking</a> about the projects cancellation.</p><p>Also attached to the project, director Guillermo del Toro, hinted to problems with the production this weekend at the San Francisoco Film Festival where photojournalist <a href="https://twitter.com/tvsmatthackney/status/592177537427447808" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Matt Hackney quoted the director</a> as saying &#8220;It&#8217;s not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart.&#8221; Regarding his involvement.</p><p>The game first hit a speedbump when it was revealed that Hideo Kojima, one of the games directors, was leaving Konami after work on his upcoming game &#8220;Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain&#8221; is complete.</p><p><a href="http://www.gamespot.com/articles/kojima-expected-to-leave-konami-after-mgs5-inside-/1100-6426024/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gamespot</a> cites power struggles between Kojima Productions and Konami &#8220;have convinced the publisher to make drastic changes, including amending the employee status of its Metal Gear team. Some senior staff at the studio, including Kojima, now essentially work as contractors, not permanent employees.&#8221;</p><p>Konami finally issued a statement today saying, &#8220;Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic Silent Hills project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.&#8221;</p>
