Artists participate in Celebration of Abilities

First Posted: 8/19/2014 Audrey Aristeo, an eighth-grade student at Dallas Middle School, recently held a book sale. She wrote the book in seventh grade as part of National Novel Writing Month, a national writing competition that takes place every November. Aristeo&#8217;s book is entitled &#8216;Sacred To Me&#8217; and involves the themes of good and evil and love and redemption in a fantasy setting. Dan Flynn, science teacher, managed the sale. The books were made available by pre-order to all interested students and faculty. A total of 50 books were sold and $150 was raised. Proceeds from the sale were donated to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, a no-kill animal shelter in Dallas. The book was also included in the sixth-grade gifted curriculum this past year.
