Suspect arrested after drug raid on Madison Street

First Posted: 9/8/2014 Candy&#8217;s Place, The Center for Cancer Wellness, recently received a donation from the Newberry Ladies Golf League from the Pink Ball Tournament that was held on Aug. 4. This was the third year Candy&#8217;s Place received funds from the tournament, which were raised through donations and raffles. Bryn Harvey, Miss Scranton/Wilkes-Barre of 2013-2014 and Candy&#8217;s Place volunteer, spoke to an audience of 38 during the tournament&#8217;s luncheon. Thirty-two golfers participated in the event. Various items were received in addition to the monetary donation. These items will be distributed in wellness kits, which are small tote bags put together by members of Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston. The fabric for the kits is donated by Sew Fine Draperies, Luzerne. The kits contain items such as first aid items, hand sanitizer, snacks and books and are distributed to hospitalized cancer patients. The $587 donation will benefit the programs at Candy&#8217;s Place and area cancer patients and their loved ones.
