First Posted: 6/24/2014 WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A 24-year-old man from Pittston out for a walk in Wilkes-Barre was found injured in the area of East Jackson Street and North Pennsylvania Avenue at about 2:45 a.m. Tuesday.
The man, whose name was not released, told police he was attacked by two men two blocks from where he was found injured. Police said the man could not remember the exact location where he was attacked.
Police said the man claimed he was staying a friend&#8217;s apartment and walked to Turkey Hill being followed by two men.
He continued to be followed despite running, police said.
The man told police one of the suspects asked for a cigarette before he was struck in the face from behind, causing him to fall to the ground.
While on the ground, the man claimed he was punched and kicked while the suspects removed items from his pockets. He claimed he told the suspects he did not have anything else and the beating continued.
Police said the man claimed the suspects got away with $360, a Samsung cell phone and his Pennsylvania identification card.
Police said the man was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center for injuries.
