WILKES-BARRE &#8212; City fire officials are investigating a commercial structure fire that happened early this morning.Wilkes-Barre Fire Chief Jay Delaney said that crews were dispatched to 380 North Pennsylvania Avenue at 1:19 a.m. this morning. When crews arrived to the old Roth American building just two minutes later, crews observed flames on the roof of the building.&#8220;Due to size of the building and the complexity of the building, a second alarm was sounded,&#8221; Delaney said.Delaney explained that crews got to the roof of the building by using a ladder at the building&#8217;s front side. Power lines in the area prevented crews from using the area ladder to access the roof &#8212; instead, Delaney said crews had to use a 35-foot extension ladder.Delaney added that the area ladder crew was able to provide direction for firefighters battling the blaze on the roof.Delaney said crews were on the scene until 3:56 a.m. battling the blaze. The roof sustained damage from the fire, and Delaney said the interior sustained water damage from crews poking holes in the roof to attack the flames.The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. No injuries were reported.
