SCRANTON &#8211; Allie Barber, Liz Waleski, Samantha Mayers and Madison Mimnaugh were part of getting the Pittston Area title streak at the Jordan Relays started.They made certain it continued Thursday night.Needing to make up four points in the final event of the night, the four runners led wire-to-wire in the 4 x 400-meter relay and got a little help in pulling out a one-point victory over Abington Heights in Class 3A.The Patriots have now won three straight titles in the event, which has been a fun, but intensely competitive transition from the regular season to the postseason for the last 60 years at Scranton Memorial Stadium.Barber led the way. She was part of two winning relays and a second-place finish. Her 1:01.1 opening leg in the final event put the Patriots in front on the way to a school record finish of 4:07.1.&#8220;Allie had a great lead,&#8221; Waleski said. &#8220;I was so thankful that she got that lead for me.&#8220;Once I get the baton, I just knew I had to go. I couldn&#8217;t worry about what was behind me at that point.&#8221;What was going on behind her, however, mattered.Pittston Area needed to win and have Abington Heights finish third among 3A teams in order to tie, or have the Comets finish fourth in the event for the Patriots to win.Mayers stretched the lead on the third leg and Mimnaugh brought it home in 1:00.3.Wallenpaupack and North Pocono provided the necessary help and the Pittston Area came out with a 43-42 edge in the team standings.Pittston Area started the night with two second-place finishes and a first to carry the team lead into the fifth of six events.Waleski, Mayers, Mimnaugh and Jamie Chisdock were each on a first- and second-place relay. Tara Johnson and Olivia Giambra joined Chisdock and Barber on the winning 1200 sprint medley.The Pittston Area boys finished seventh in the 3A standings with 20 points.Tunkhannock, the only other WVC team to compete, scored two points in Class 3A girls.H.S. Smith and Brownsey earned first team honors while Kerr was a second team choice and MacConchie an Honorable Mention selection.King&#8217;s place three on Freedom teamThree members of the King&#8217;s College women&#8217;s lacrosse team were named to the 2015 All-Freedom Conference team the conference office announced on Thursday. Freshmen Anastasia Araviakis and Megan O&#8217;Brien were first-team selections while sophomore Gabriella Morrocu was a second-team selection. In addition, Araviakis was named the Freedom Conference &#8220;Rookie of the Year&#8221;
