Push continues for West Pittston levee protection

First Posted: 8/29/2014 TUNKHANNOCK &#8212; Dallas avenged a loss to Tunkhannock in last year&#8217;s District 2 Class 2A boys soccer championship match with a 3-2 win over the Tigers on Friday afternoon.
Despite having an early lead, Tunkhannock allowed three unanswered goals as Dallas secured the victory.
Nico DeLuca scored the game-winner for Dallas, which outshot the Tigers, 11-7.
Nanticoke 7, Hanover Area 1
The Trojans earned a decisive win over Hanover Area thanks in-part to a hat trick from Ed Lukowski. Adding to that was a two goal, two assist performance by Ben Sersen.
Meyers 2, Holy Redeemer 1
Meyers received goals from two freshmen, Johnny Torres and Matt Manfre as they doubled up Holy Redeemer. Josh Perta scored the only tally of the night for Holy Redeemer.
Crestwood 5, GAR 1
With two goals and an assist on the night, Dylan Perrone, led Crestwood to a, 5-1 win over GAR. Crestwood&#8217;s tandem of goaltenders, Lance Lysiak and Aiden Zabagelski turned aside eight shots during the game, allowing only a single goal. Crestwood outshot GAR, 17-9.
Hazleton Area 3, Pittston Area 1
The Cougars overcame a haltime deficit to score three unanswered second-half goals led by two from Brendan Lohr en route to the victory.
Girls Soccer
Holy Redeemer 11, Meyers 3
Holy Redeemer scored eight goals in the first half en route to the victory.
The Royals outshot Meyers 34-19 in the win.
Dallas 11, Tunkhannock
A six-goal performance by Talia Szatkowski helped the Mountaineers start their season on the right track in a rout of the Tigers.
Coughlin 3, Wyoming Area 0
Mary Tona scored two goals to lead Coughlin to victory.
Hailee Dumont scored a goal, while Emma Sukowaski and Hailee Dumont each recorded goals in the win.
Wyoming Area&#8217;s Caitlin Butchko had 14 saves in the loss.
Pittston Area 7, Hazleton Area 0
The Patriots were paced by Allie Barber&#8217;s three goals and an assist. Also scoring for the winners were Maddy Mimnaugh, Kayla Hogan and Liz Waleski.
