Wyoming Valley West now has an opponent for the PIAA Class 4A baseball championship.The Spartans will face two-time champ North Penn at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Penn State&#8217;s Medlar Field with the state title on the line. Tickets can be purchased at the stadium, costing $8 for adults and $4 for students grades K-12. Children younger than that are admitted free.North Penn, the runner-up from District 1, rallied in dramatic fashion to beat Shaler 3-1 in the 4A bracket&#8217;s other semifinal on Tuesday. The Knights trailed 1-0 nearly the entire afternoon before loading the bases in the top of the seventh and forcing extra innings with a sacrifice fly.From there, senior Mike Christy hit a two-run homer in the top of the eighth to take the lead before closing it out.It will be the third time in the last seven seasons that North Penn has reached the state finals. The Knights won the crown both previous times, triumphing in 2009 and 2013.Valley West will be making its second trip to the title game, looking to become the second Wyoming Valley Conference squad to win it all, joining the 2008 Berwick team.
