First Posted: 4/29/2014 Better grab that umbrella before heading out to work and school today &#8212; it looks like it is going to be a wet one in the Wyoming Valley.
The National Weather Service indicated that it was 47 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport. Cloudy skies hovered above the morning commute in a quiet start to the day.
The area is currently under a hazardous weather outlook. The National Weather Service indicates that a prolonged period of rain is expected across Northeast Pennsylvania. That will included off-and-on showers until Thursday.
As much as 2.5 inches is possible in the 48-hour period, but the outlook states that the rain should not cause any significant issues.
Showers are expected today mainly after 10 a.m., with up to a half an inch of rain possible. Winds could also gust to 30 miles per hour. Today&#8217;s high will reach about 50 degrees. The rain will continue on into tonight, with another quarter of an inch to a half an inch of rain possible. Tonight&#8217;s low will be in the mid 40s.
Rain is once again expected on Wednesday, with between a half and three quarters of an inch of rain possible. Winds could also gust to as high as 32 miles per hour. Wednesday&#8217;s high will reach the mid 50s.
Rain will carry on into Wednesday night, with the low dropping only to 51 degrees. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain are possible.
