Salavantis to speak on plans for ‘Kevin’s Law’

First Posted: 5/15/2014 DALLAS: Dallas United Methodist Church, 4 Parsonage St., will be conducting Vacation Bible School from 5:30-8 p.m. June 24-27. This year&#8217;s theme is &#8220;Land and Sea Adventures!&#8221;
Dinner will be served each night and there will be stories, games and crafts. The event is for children ages 3 and older.

HUNLOCK CREEK: Maple Grove United Methodist Church, 5876 Main Road, is hosting a Vacation Bible School from June 9-13. Families are welcome. The event is for ages 3 and older.
A light dinner will be served each night at 6 p.m. and the program will conclude by 8:30 p.m.
This year&#8217;s theme is &#8220;Ancient Athens.&#8221; There will be games, a marketplace of crafts, a visit to Apostle Paul&#8217;s tent and music.

NANTICOKE: North Anthracite Council League of Ukrainian Catholics will hold a general meeting at 2 p.m. on June 1 at Holy Transfiguration Church, 240 Center St., Hanover section.
A Moleben prayer service will take place at 2 p.m. and the business session will be held at 2:30 p.m. The agenda will include discussion of proposed 2014 activities, including the October national convention in Johnstown. A reception and fellowship will take place after the meeting.

PLAINS TWP.: The Womens Society of SS. Peter and Paul Church, Hudson Road, will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday. The group will meet at 6:30 p.m. to recite the rosary in the courtyard. A random drawing for the May Queen will take place after the prayers and the Blessed Mother statue will be crowned. A social will be held in the Parish Center after the ceremony.
PLYMOUTH: The Plymouth Cambrian Club is sponsoring a Welsh tea at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the First Welsh Baptist Church, Plymouth.
Entertainment will be provided by Jodee James, a Welsh folk singer. James has performed at numerous concert venues, festivals, libraries, colleges, cultural events and coffeehouses. She has also toured with Irish accordion wizard David Munnelly and Band and played with the Celtic rock band Lenahan.
A donation of $5 is requested and tickets may be obtained at the door. Refreshments for the event will be homemade bread and Welsh cookies.
PLYMOUTH: The Plymouth Ministerium will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at All Saints Parish, Willow Street. Plans for the Vacation Bible School will be discussed.
SWEET VALLEY: Sweet Valley Church of Christ, 5439 Main Road, is conducting a veterans memorial service at 9:30 a.m. on May 25. All are invited.
WYOMING: The Wyoming Valley Mushroom Club is holding a foray from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday at Frances Slocum State Park. Club members will meet at noon at the Big Pines picnic area, parking lot 12. The walk will be taken along forested trails where wood ticks and deer ticks may be encountered. Appropriate clothing is recommended.
