‘Pork’ persists, but Huber falls

First Posted: 3/4/2014 Luzerne County Judge Fred Pierantoni on Tuesday continued the double-homicide trial of Paul Weakley until after the double-homicide trial of Hugo Selenski.
Weakley, 44, is a witness against Selenski, 40, who were both charged in May 2006 with the strangulation killings of Michael Kerkowski and Tammy Fassett.
Selenski&#8217;s trial, which was scheduled to begin this week, has often been continued. It was recently continued on Feb. 10 when Pierantoni dismissed his lead defense attorney, Shelley Centini, amid charges of witness tampering that were filed by the state Office of Attorney General.
Pierantoni rescheduled Selenski&#8217;s trial to begin May 19.
Weakley is serving a life sentence in federal prison that was imposed in 2008 when he pleaded guilty to racketeer influence and corrupt organization charges. The federal charge incorporated the killings of Kerkowski and Fassett, and a home invasion and robbery of a jewelry store in Monroe County in January 2003.
Pierantoni rescheduled Weakley&#8217;s trial to October.
