March Madness will boost office morale, drop productivity, study says

First Posted: 4/23/2014 Local members of the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) union are partnering with the U.S. Postal Service, United Way of Wyoming Valley, Commission on Economic Opportunity and the Greater Wilkes-Barre Labor Council (AFL-CIO) in conducting the 22nd annual National Association of Letter Carriers&#8217; Food Drive on May 10. It is the largest one-day food drive to combat hunger in America. Letter carriers throughout the greater Wyoming Valley area, who are represented by NALC Branch 115 in Wilkes-Barre and Branch 162 in Pittston, will be collecting food items along their routes to help &#8216;stamp out&#8217; hunger. All food collected locally will be delivered to local food banks and pantries. Residents can leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods, such as canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal, next to their mailboxes prior to the time of regular mail delivery on May 10. Food items should be in non-breakable containers (no glass). None of the food items should be expired. Letter carriers will collect the donations as they deliver the mail and take them to local food banks and pantries.
