Lackawanna County to proclaim Armed Forces Week

Abingotn Heights Middle School announces March students of the month

SCRANTON &#8212; The Lackawanna County Commissioners will provide a proclamation to the Armed Forces Committee of Northeast Pennsylvania on Monday, May 11, designating Armed Forces Week from May 11 &#8211; 16.The annual Armed Forces Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, May 13 at St. Mary&#8217;s Center, 320 Mifflin Ave., Scranton. Main speaker will be BG George M. Schwartz, Assistant Adjutant General, Pennsylvania Army National Guard.The annual Armed Forces Parade will take place at 11 a.m. on May 16 in downtown Scranton. The parade will feature the Pennsylvania National Guard from the 55th brigade, the Gino Merli Veterans Center, Tobyhanna Army Depot, six high school bands and dozens of other military and veterans units. The line of march will begin at the Gino Merli Veterans Center and proceed south on Penn Avenue to Lackawanna Avenue, moving east past the mall and turning north on North Washington Avenue and continuing past the Lackawanna County Courthouse.
