Exeter Hose probe target admits stealing from mother-in-law

WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Mike Conlon talked about all the hours he and his fellow senior classmates spent inside the Holy Redeemer gymnasium.All the hard work and sweat put forth perfecting swings, digging balls from the back row and throwing picturesque sets for those wood-popping spikes.Needless to say, that senior class wasn&#8217;t going to suffer a setback in its final regular-season game.Mike Gatusky had a match-high 17 kills and the Royals rolled to their second consecutive Wyoming Valley Conference boys volleyball championship as Holy Redeemer swept Delaware Valley 3-0 Thursday.Set scores were 25-17, 25-11 and 25-19.Redeemer begins its push toward defending its District 2 Class 2A title Wednesday where the anticipated opponent will be District 11 representative Southern Lehigh.&#8220;All the seniors were really hyped up for this match,&#8221; said Conlon, who finished with 33 assists. &#8220;We have spent countless hours here every week. The last time on the court, I won&#8217;t lie, it&#8217;s bittersweet. It&#8217;s also very exciting because you know a new season, the postseason, is starting pretty soon.&#8221;The energy level was kicked up a notch.Maybe it was the amped up adrenaline from senior night. Call it sheer determination to make sure the WVC title remained at Holy Redeemer.From Gatusky&#8217;s first swing, a cross-court kill that smashed off the floor without a Warrior even touching it, the Royals weren&#8217;t going to be denied.&#8220;My energy level was so high for this match,&#8221; Gatusky said. &#8220;This was my last regular season with these guys, most of whom I&#8217;ve been with on the court for four years. It&#8217;s a good experience to finish it off with a win in three sets and a league championship.&#8221;While the first and third sets were close, the match wasn&#8217;t really in doubt.Redeemer jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the opening set, and handed DelVal 12 of its 17 points in terms of service and attack errors and violations.Gatusky also dominated. He had eight kills in the first, and added another six in the ensuing stanza.&#8220;We played well enough, and that was good enough tonight,&#8221; Redeemer coach Jack Kablick said. &#8220;We are coming off a great tournament in Dallastown last weekend, and did really well. But there was a lot of emotion with senior night, and all nine kids have contributed at some point this season, which is great for them.&#8221;The Warriors, who have to qualify for states through a regional with District 11 because 3A only has three teams, found themselves down only three (17-14) in the third set. But two kills from John Carr, Chris Mennig&#8217;s hard spike toward the back-left corner and a block by Carr gave the Royals some breathing room, up five with only three points needed to close out the match.&#8220;The better competition that we see, the better we are going to get as a team,&#8221; DelVal coach Adam Holdredge said. &#8220;Watching them, and how they do things, it&#8217;s a good experience for our guys. And that will definitely help us to raise our level of play as we head to District 11 for our playoffs. Now, I can go back to practice and tell our guys that this is the level of competition we are going to see for the rest of the season.&#8221;The second set belonged to Alex Kotch. With the senior libero floating darts across the court, Redeemer used a 9-0 run to open up an 11-3 lead and never looked back &#8211; leading by double digits (21-10) at one point.Nanticoke 3, Dallas 0The Trojans earned a 25-10, 25-17, 25-14 sweep of the Mountaineers at home.Nanticoke was led by Eddie Lukowski (2 aces, 36 assists, 1 block, 1 dig), Matt Winters (13 kills, 4 digs), Robert Burke (2 service points, 1 ace, 11 kills, 4 digs) and Justin Casey (3 kills, 4 blocks).Coughlin 3, Berwick 0The Crusaders swept host Berwick 25-20, 25-15, 25-14.Rob Zbierski had 17 kills, 14 points and six blocks to pace Coughlin. John Hodgey (4 kills, 1 block) and Kyle Williams (3 kills, 4 digs) also contributed.Crestwood 3, Hanover Area 0Chet Manship (11) and Corey Manship (10) combined for 21 kills in the Comets&#8217; 25-20, 25-12, 25-11 sweep.Chris Dexter had 25 assists and eight service points while Chet Manship added 12 service points and two blocks and Corey Manship had four service points. Crestwood closed out its league schedule at 9-3.Kyle Baranowski (4 service points, 2 kills) and John Murphy (5 assists, 2 kills, 2 service points) topped the Hawkeyes.Holy Redeemer 3, Del.
