Winning streaks rare for new-look Braves

LEHMAN TWP. &#8212; Kaley Egan hit a two-run single in the sixth inning as Lake-Lehman rallied to upset Tunkhannock 3-2 Thursday, damaging the Tigers&#8217; hopes for the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 softball title.Tunkhannock (8-4 Div. 2) fell into third place behind Nanticoke (8-2) and Wyoming Area (9-3) with two games left in its season. Lehman improved to 2-10 in Division 2.Trailing 2-1 in the sixth, Lehman&#8217;s Cassandra Konopki started the rally by reaching on an error. Jillian Ambrose then singled and Egan drove home both girls.Lehman pitcher Abbey Hogan had one of her best outings of the year. The freshman allowed just five hits while striking out three.Traci Kromko doubled and had two RBI for Tunkhannock.Pittston Area 4, Coughlin 1Nina Cencetti shut down the Crusaders after the first inning, scattering six singles while striking out two. Julie Silinskie doubled for the Patriots.Brittany Nastawa struck out five for Coughlin. Taylor Pawlush had two hits.Northwest 15, GAR 0Brooke Harvey went 4-for-4 and Morgan Kline tripled in the Rangers&#8217; four-inning victory. Molly Hasay allowed one hit over four shutout innings to pick up the victory.Maggie Murphy, Olivia Piestrak and Alicia Carr all doubled for Northwest. Breanna Hanahan doubled for GAR&#8217;s lone hit.Wyoming Area 6, Crestwood 3Gwen Glatz struck out nine for the Warriors while Emily Wolfgang went 2-for-4 with a double at the plate.Sarah Macko (two hits), Ashlee Olenginski (two hits) and Colleen Borum all doubled for the Comets.MMI Prep 2, Meyers 1Desiree Dinko struck out eight for the Preppers, who answered a tying run from Meyers in the top of the sixth with the winning run in the home half.Gina Strillacci pitched a three-hitter for the Mohawks, who got a triple from Alexis Bruno.Holy Redeemer 8, Wyo. Seminary 1Kaya Swanek three hits and three RBI as Holy Redeemer defeated Wyoming Seminary.Britney Hebda added three hits. Jen Ringsdorf had two RBI.
