The political environment in Wilkes-Barre and the county goes way back. It is something that seems to be built into the local machine, and I am referring to the local political machine.I have read up on the folks running for office. I know some things and much I do not know, but touting the fact that you have been a lifelong resident of the area is something that I am unsure qualifies one to be a mayor of the city.I grew up in Wilkes-Barre until I joined the Army and left. I have come back to see family and have seen what I left behind, what the city has become. I have lived in five countries and visited more than 30. I worked for multinational companies as well as NASA, negotiating with government officials in Singapore, China, Thailand, South Africa, Taiwan and India.I say this as a friend of Wilkes-Barre. Be sure to really look into what it is you are buying into as you decide your fate, your future for the city of Wilkes-Barre. There is far more to it than a slogan or a campaign button. Dig into what the plan of action is; there are plenty of action points to discuss, and you need to understand the direction that the city is heading.Uwe FisherWilkes-Barre
