We attend all Wilkes-Barre Crime Watch meetings (in the Rolling Mill Hill neighborhood); we also attend Wilkes-Barre City Council meetings. Based on what we have witnessed over the years, we strongly encourage all Wilkes-Barre residents to vote for Tony George in the May primary election to be Wilkes-Barre&#8217;s next mayor.We have witnessed city council members time and time again blindly voting &#8220;yes,&#8221; never challenging or never questioning &#8211; with the exception of one council member. &#8220;Yes&#8221; for multiple gaming fund grants for nonprofits and businesses instead of for neighborhoods, &#8220;yes&#8221; for the Johnson Controls contract enacted without a bidding process and adding to city debt, &#8220;yes&#8221; to refinancing city debt without ever reducing the principal, while incurring additional city debt. The only person who voted &#8220;no,&#8221; who voted in the best interest of the citizens of Wilkes-Barre, was Tony George. The only person to pursue the theft of 18,000 gallons of city gas and over $31,000 in state fines paid for by Wilkes-Barre taxpayers was Tony George; the remaining council members remained silent.Mr. George attends all our monthly Crime Watch meetings &#8211; he listens to citizens&#8217; complaints, offers advice and helpful information. He has assisted many residents with their problems; we can attest to that from personal experience. Our neighborhood has improved based on his actions.We have every confidence that Tony George will put Wilkes-Barre on the right path to become a clean, safe, attractive and vibrant city.Gene and Mary PelletierWilkes-Barre
