Letter to the Editor: Urge EPA to take further measures to clean air in Northeastern Pennsylvania

West Wyoming voters elected council members Eileen Cipriani and Gary Stavish to be the watchdogs of borough tax dollars, but what we got were two dogs with no teeth and no bark.Where were Cipriani and Stavish when 16 months of double payments were received by a borough police officer? As watchdogs they made great kittens.I have to ask why West Wyoming is one of the very few municipalities that do not have curbside recycling? Just about every community in Luzerne County is doing its best to end the waste going to landfills, but Cipriani and Stavish are dragging their feet, taking our borough into the antiquated age of recycling. Why? These two ineffective members of borough council must see no need to keep the cost of garbage collection down via the use of recycling, and the need to recycle products for the sake of our environment means nothing to them. Is this the leadership we voted for?Cipriani and Stavish took very deep bows when the West Side Council of Governments was formed, but in the end what did they achieve? They purchased a worn-out street sweeper, and borough residents were lucky to see their streets cleaned even once in four years. Months ago the stop sign at Ferretti Drive and West Third Street was knocked down; rather than re-install it, they removed it &#8211; leaving the borough in jeopardy of a lawsuit and an unsuspecting motorist in danger of a collision. Is this the leadership we voted for?Let&#8217;s not forget that Cipriani cronies successfully had the late John Bolin&#8217;s name removed from the ballot for state representative because it was easier to play political games than face the voters and allow them to decide who would make the best state representative.Change is needed, and not voting for Cipriani and Stavish is a good start in the recovery of West Wyoming.Robert ConnorsWest Wyoming
