Lackawanna County restaurant inspections: May 11-15

The following are recent Lackawanna County restaurant inspection reports from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.According to the agency: &#8220;any inspection is a &#8216;snapshot&#8217; of the day and time of the inspection. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long-term cleanliness of an establishment. Also, at the time of the inspection, violations are recorded but are often corrected on site prior to the inspector leaving the establishment.&#8221;The information is taken from the inspection database at <a href="http://www.eatsafepa.com/" target="_blank" title="Pa. Department of Agriculture">www.eatsafepa.com</a>.Postal addresses used here are as listed on the state&#8217;s website, and may not correspond to the municipalities in the which facilities are physically located.A&amp;C Quick Mart, 405 Main St., Simpson, May 15. Observed wet wiping cloths in the deli area, not being stored in sanitizer solution. Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in baine marie and refrigerated equipment in the deli area. No sign or poster posted at the handwash sink in the deli food prep area to remind food employees to wash their hands. Dry goods storage area of the food facility is dirty, dusty, and in need of cleaning. Food employees observed in deli food prep area, preparing foods , not wearing proper hair restraints, such as a net or hat. Potentially hazardous ready-to-eat food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the baine marie refrigerated equipment, is not being date marked. Ambient air temperature measuring device for ensuring proper food storage in the refrigerated unit equipment in the deli area, is not accurate to +/- 3&#176;F. Thermometer reading 32&#176;F , ten degrees lower than the verified temperature. Thermometers for ensuring proper temperatures of food are not available or readily accessible. Non-food contact surfaces , interior base surface of the baine marie and refrigerated unit and door handles and walk in cooler floor not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of food and soil. Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dust on the exterior surface of the commercial hood system. Plumbing system not maintained in good repair; observed restroom hand washing sink leaking at the faucet handles. Toilet room located adjacent to the patron seating area has a sign on the door out of order and is not accessible for convenient use by employees. Grease and dust accumulated on the hood vents above the deep fryer equipment. Food facility has a co owner/employee who held a Certified Food Manager certificate; however, the certificate has expired and is no longer valid. The co-owner/employee has taken food safety training program; however, the food safety program was not an ANSI/CFP accredited Certified Food Manager program. Co-owner completed a Servsafe Achievement course dated March 24, 2014. Reviewed required managers course for compliance.Siskos Cafe, 35 N. Main St., Carbondale, May 15. Interior surface storage drawer of the whirlpool refrigerated equipment is cracked and/or repaired with materials unapproved for food equipment.
