Thanks to an unusually high Susquehanna River, I have a golden opportunity to embarrass myself on Sunday.Typically, I would be spending Riverfest weekend competing with my co-workers on the Times Leader&#8217;s dragonboat team.But Triathlon Tale&#8217;s good friend and TL office manager Renee Sager informed me earlier today that the dragonboat races have been postponed until July because the river is too high. (<a href="https://www.timesleader.com/article/20150511/news/305119954" target="_blank">Sometimes she is every bit as evil as Amy Feldman</a>.)So, I have an opening in my schedule for Sunday, which I intend to fill by taking part in my first Wilkes-Barre Duathlon. I figure it will be a good test of my fitness level as a prep for September&#8217;s Wilkes-Barre Triathlon.I also figure that I may find out that I&#8217;m not in nearly as good as shape as I think I am. The 5K run followed by a 16-mile bike ride and another 5k run will surely be a stern test, and quite possibly an embarrassingly slow time for me.Wilkes-Barre Mayor Tom Leighton completed the event last year in 2 hours, 25 minutes and 51 seconds, which included a two-minute penalty. I have to be in better shape than the mayor, right. After all what kind of time can he have to work out while running the Wyoming Valley&#8217;s biggest city.That&#8217;s right Mayor Leighton, I&#8217;m gunning for you.Well, may be not. Perhaps the time from last year I should be shooting for is Eric Snyder&#8217;s.Snider finished the race in 2:45:38, the last athlete to complete the race.Of course, it&#8217;s probably not a good thing that I&#8217;m targeting the time of a 70-year-old man, is it?Renee, are you sure about those dragonboats?
