First Posted: 8/11/2014 Rain and cooler temperatures will be the trend in the Wyoming Valley this week.
The National Weather Service indicated that it was 64 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport. Areas of fog could be found in certain areas this morning, but the National Weather Service indicated that visibility was at 10 miles.
Otherwise, it&#8217;s a bright and sunny start to the week, but that trend might not last long.
Mostly sunny skies will continue throughout the day today, with a high in the mid 80s. There will be a chance of showers tonight, with thunderstorms also possible after 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy skies are expected otherwise, with a low in the mid 60s. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, but more could in thunderstorms.
Showers are likely on Tuesday, along with some thunderstorms in the mix. There is currently a 90 percent chance of precipitation, with up to three quarters of an inch of rain possible. Tuesday&#8217;s high will be in the lower 70s.
That high likelihood of rain will continue on Tuesday night, with a 90 percent chance of showers and a lingering thunderstorm. Up to one inch of rain will be possible. Tuesday night&#8217;s high will be in the mid 60s.
Showers and thunderstorms will once again be likely on Wednesday morning, and the chance for rain and thunderstorms will stick around for the rest of the day. Wednesday&#8217;s high will be in the upper 70s.
Wednesday night will be a quieter night, with partly cloudy skies being predicted. Wednesday night&#8217;s low will be in the mid 50s.
