First Posted: 7/25/2014 Senior girls participating in the King&#8217;s College Summer Choir Training Course rehearse on Friday under the direction of guest conductor David Briggs, a world-renowned concert organist, choral conductor and composer from Toronto, in preparation for the climactic closing liturgies this Sunday &#8212; Choral Eucharist at 10:30 a.m. (with organ voluntary starting at 10:10 a.m.) and Choral Evensong at 3 p.m. (with organ voluntary starting at 2:50 p.m.) &#8212; at St. Stephen&#8217;s Episcopal Church, 35 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre. A choir of more than 200 singers of all ages from throughout the United States will sing sacred music in the Anglican choral tradition. The participants have been taught, conducted and accompanied by a large staff of gifted American church musicians, including St. Stephen&#8217;s organist and choirmaster, Canon Mark Laubach, who serves as a host and principal organist for the week. The weeklong course, hosted annually by King&#8217;s and St. Stephen&#8217;s since 1995, is sponsored by The Royal School of Church Music in America. The events are free and open to the public.
