PIAA BOYS BASKETBALL GLANCE

First Posted: 7/3/2014 Penn State&#8217;s roster got it&#8217;s official mid-summer update earlier this week as 30 new names &#8212; 20 scholarship players and 10 walk-ons &#8212; arrived on campus to begin their college careers.
Given Penn State&#8217;s depleted roster situation, this season will be as good a chance as any for the rookies to see the field in some capacity.
The following rundown doesn&#8217;t include the freshmen who enrolled back in January (like QB Michael O&#8217;Connor) and it&#8217;s expected that more walk-ons will be added after the second summer session of classes.
For those District 2 fans out there, Scranton Prep&#8217;s Noah Beh will be wearing No. 60. Here are the rest of the new uniform numbers, plus heights and weights provided by Penn State.

&#8226; 2 Marcus Allen, DB | 6-foot-2, 196 pounds | Big-hitter who you&#8217;ll be seeing plenty of by 2015 (if not sooner) with three senior safeties leaving after this season
&#8226; 23 Mark Allen, RB | 5-foot-7, 184 pounds | Instrumental in keeping many of Bill O&#8217;Brien&#8217;s recruits in the fold but may not see the field right away
&#8226; 85 Troy Apke, WR | 6-foot-1, 185 pounds | Was busy this past spring winning district track medals and competing at PIAAs
&#8226; 60 Noah Beh, OL | 6-foot-6, 257 pounds | Scranton Prep grad already beginning to fill out his big frame, much to the delight of line coach Herb Hand
&#8226; 13 Saeed Blacknall, WR | 6-foot-3, 210 pounds | Has the potential and skillset to be the biggest star in the recruiting class&#8230; but maybe not right out of the gate
&#8226; 75 Brendan Brosnan, OL | 6-foot-6, 286 pounds | Late in Paterno&#8217;s tenure, PSU struggled to develop the bulkiest of OL prospects &#8212; that may change now
&#8226; 96 Torrence Brown, DL | 6-foot-3, 253 pounds | A potential to play linebacker or rush end, will start out in the trenches despite lack of numbers at LB
&#8226; 40 Jason Cabinda, LB | 6-foot-1, 248 pounds | Despite an offseason run-in with the law, his chances to play skyrocketed because of Ben Kline&#8217;s injury
&#8226; 1 Christian Campbell, DB | 6-foot-1, 183 pounds | Like Torrence Brown, was a last-minute addition from Alabama who could be redshirting
&#8226; 7 Koa Farmer, DB | 6-foot-1, 208 pounds | Coaches are very excited to start working with him, should have a great chance to play on both defense and special teams
&#8226; 88 Mike Gesicki, TE | 6-foot-6, 231 pounds | Tweeted the other day that he posted a 40-inch vertical since arriving, which is incredible/terrifying
&#8226; 12 Chris Godwin, WR | 6-foot-2, 210 pounds | Perhaps a bit more polished than his WR classmates, giving him a leg up on playing as a freshman
&#8226; 15 Grant Haley, DB | 5-foot-9, 186 pounds | Franklin and staff prefer their corners to have &#8220;length&#8221; (read: they like them taller) but Haley also excels as a return man
&#8226; 9 Trace McSorley, QB | 6-foot, 192 pounds | He may not finish his college career at quarterback, but that&#8217;s certainly where PSU needs him to work at now
&#8226; 21 Amani Oruwariye, DB | 6-foot-1, 193 pounds | Hopefully will redshirt if for no other reason than to give us an extra year to learn how to pronounce his name
&#8226; 44 Troy Reeder, LB | 6-foot-1, 244 pounds | Probably a middle linebacker in the future, he may end up practicing on the outside as well this summer
&#8226; 24 Nick Scott, RB | 5-foot-11, 192 pounds | Hopes to pick up some tips from Bill Belton as a versatile option out of the backfield
&#8226; 58 Chance Sorrell, OL | 6-foot-5, 291 pounds | Line coach Herb Hand is a big fan of the Ohio native, who may have the highest ceiling of this OL class
&#8226; 20 Johnathan Thomas, RB | 5-foot-11, 215 pounds | Coming off of an ACL injury, figures to be in line for a redshirt with two seniors at the top of the depth chart
&#8226; 19 Daquan Worley, DB | 5-foot-10, 180 pounds | Nearing the nine-month mark since major knee surgery suffered during senior season at Coatesville

&#8226; 92 Joey Holmes, DT | 5-foot-10, 268 pounds | Scranton Prep grad will be rejoining former teammate Noah Beh, giving PSU four total LFC alums on the roster
&#8226; 99 Joey Julius, P | 5-foot-11, 200 pounds | Turned down a soccer scholarship at SIU-Edwardsville, one of a few candidates to replace Sam Ficken in 2015
&#8226; 29 Brandon Kuntz, WR | 6-foot-4, 200 pounds | Brother of former PSU receiver Christian Kuntz from Harrisburg area has a similar frame
&#8226; 57 Marshall Lefferts, OL | 6-foot-2, 330 pounds | Comes to Happy Valley all the way from Dallas (Texas, not the Back Mountain)
