First Posted: 12/18/2014 Anthony D. Blaso, 92, recently received his high school diploma from GAR Memorial High School after 74 years. Blaso quit school in his senior year to volunteer for the U.S. Marines Corps. He attended aviation mechanic and gunnery schools and was assigned to a B-25 Witchell bombing squadron. Blaso served as a top turret gunner in the Central Pacific and completed 37 missions. He was discharged on March 6, 1946. At the presentation, from left: Ann Marie Chopick and Cindy Vecchio, daughters; Blaso; and Debra Roan, daughter. Blaso also has a son Anthony Blaso Jr.
