First Posted: 8/20/2014 WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Pennsylvania American Water has announced water main replacement projects in seven Luzerne County communities to improve reliability for customers, reduce service disruptions and increase water flows for firefighting.
The cost of the water system improvements is approximately $1.6 million.
Beginning the week of Aug. 25, the company will replace more than 8,000 feet of undersized two-, four-, and six-inch water main with new eight-inch ductile iron pipe in the following areas: Ashley &#8212; Cemetery and Brown streets; Courtdale &#8212; Blackman, Hoyt and Wood streets; Nanticoke &#8212; Willow Street; Plymouth &#8212; Walnut Street; Pringle &#8212; Pringle and Center streets; Sugar Notch &#8212; Woodland Road; Warrior Run &#8212; Orchard, Bauer and Harrison streets.
The company expects to complete all the work by the end of November.
