First Posted: 10/24/2014 NEW YORK (AP) &#8212; Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the New York doctor who has tested positive for Ebola &#8220;obviously felt he wasn&#8217;t symptomatic&#8221; when he went out &#8220;in a limited way.&#8221;
Cuomo made his comments on NBC&#8217;s Today show Friday after being asked whether Dr. Craig Spencer acted responsibly, even though he rode the subway, bowled and rode a cab.
Spencer recently returned to the city after treating Ebola patients in West Africa.
The governor said Spencer had been taking his temperature twice a day and took himself to a hospital as soon as he had a fever. As a doctor, Cuomo said Spencer knew you&#8217;re not contagious until you&#8217;re symptomatic.
Spencer tested positive for the virus on Thursday. He is the first case in the city and the fourth in the nation.
